Those Stupid, Gay Missionary Planners

As I was preparing to go on a mission, a letter from the church informed me that I did not need to purchase a planner; the church would provide one for me. I thought that was pretty cool until I saw it for the first time...

It was a stupid sheet of blue paper which had seven columns, one for each day of the week. Each column had the hours of the day on which we could write down our appointments. This piece of paper was then folded up and placed into the shirt pocket just behind our name tag.

I thought that was the most gay thing I had ever seen!

I never used it. Whenever my dorky companion would pull out his blue sheet of paper on which to make an appointment, I just felt embarrased. All the church could provide was a stupid sheet of blue paper!

I don't know if they still use them now. I guess it doesn't matter. I just always thought that the church could have done a little better than a stupid blue sheet of paper.

While writing my last post about interviews, I had the memory of these planners because during interviews with the MP, there was also an interview with this geeky dude. His one and only concern was that the missionaries were using our blue planners. At every interview he would ask to see our planners and make sure that we were using them. Then he would bear his testimony about the importance of using them. I always felt it was sooooo stupid. It's a sheet of paper. It's not like the gates of hell will devour the earth if we're not using them. But this guy really thought it would.

My mission was the biggest eye-opener about how the church really works and how it isn't inspired at all!

I'm glad you liked them. I thought they were stupid. Now I'm bitter for just expressing my opinion about them?

To a TBM, all apostates are bitter and angry. This guys attitude reflects that perfectly.

so you apostisized because you didn't like the planners?...haha. no i'm just kidding, i know there are alot of things to consider when making a desicion like that.bytheway, they have much better planners now. I am a mormon who's served a mission, only one year though. when i got back i kind of fell away for a little while and i got to a point where i had no desire to keep living. i wanted to die and i know i was in a really dark place, but really the church saved my life. i know everyone is different and i have no room to judge other people but just for me, i love the church with all my heart. and i really am greatful for it in my life. it gives me structure and a reason to do good. i think if something helps you do good things, it must be good. well, i hope you find whatever it is you are looking for, and whether you believe the church is true or not, serving others really does bring happiness and that is something i can testify of. well thanks for reading. later.

Dear Anon,

I'm glad the church works for you and gives you what you need. I truly am. Mormonism works great for some people. I would caution you about taking everything they say as the literal truth, but in the long run, if it makes you happy, then I am truly thrilled for you.

Sorry you felt so upset about those planners and what others thought. For the previous anonymous, I think he'll be fine. People have always told me, "careful on what the mormon church teaches." However, the more I learn about it through study and experiences, the less I listen to that phrase. I think it is up to the person learning if the experience with the church is good or not. I think if someone wants something bad enough, they will receive it. Just know this, where ever you go my freind, you will have someone hoping the best for you.

Thank you, sir. I don't know you from Adam, hypothetically speaking, but it means a lot.

I'm a full-time proselyting missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with my husband in the Ogden Central Utah mission. We have awesome planners… So please come back to church! Ha ha :-) okay I'm a New Yorker and I have an awesome sense of humor :-) but seriously, to be that nitpicking over something that to me has a lot of common sense value seems kind of odd. And yes anti Mormons get this reputation of being bitter miserable complaining little trolls because unfortunately that's what they come across as:P I have never seen someone who is truly happy and at peace and things going swell that have left the church and then fight against it. In all seriousness: I have had sacred experiences that I could never deny . They tell me the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Jesus Christ Church on earth. It really is 2 paths in life either light in Jesus Christ or darkness Satan and eternal damnation. It is harsh because IT IS harsh and that is reality. please get down on your knees and sincerely ask God in the name of Jesus Christ , if the Church is true. Only spiritual discernment can find spiritual truth. Being spiritually minded is life and of Jesus Christ. Being against Jesus Christ and his church is to live in darkness, sadness and despair. BTW my IQ is 145 I'm definitely not brainwashed. Trying to keep the Commandments and serving our God our Creator of this universe, who gives us breath second by second minute by minute is life eternal. Anything other than that I think it's madness.

Wow, glad to know high IQ is proof against brainwashing. Oh, wait, mine is 165 and the Church still managed it with me. They kept telling me that relying on my own reasoning power was foolish vanity. FWIW, the blue planners were stupid.

Nobody on here has any plans to stop the elite fascist who are actually causing the eruptions in Hawaii? You know it's a real big conspiracy right up there with weather control which there is a lot of evidence for. I'm a Mormon but I have an open mind too. Do I love the Church ? Yes most assuredly. Even if I never get another ride to the temple still gonna keep going forward. Been real dry season in 2018 so far. I got a temple recommend but do not drive. You would think if God was so smart He would be able to hook me up with some good employment (not just flipping burgers in dead end job) so I could pay my way to the temple getting a ride every time by uber or lyft. No buses go up to Farmington from Meriden where temple is or that would be a great option. One day when my ship comes in, I want to start a business driving people to the temple who have no other way of getting up there cause I know what it feels like to get left behind. Would be cool if I had a way to get all of Superman's abilities. I would have that Lava situation well under control. But the question is if I could stop the issue with the lava would it be welcome or would there be resistance by evil elite. I'm sure, I would get both. Dominic R Hester is my name still strong in the faith but like to think out of the box.
