Aside from the fact that green is my favorite color, has anyone ever wondered why I have chosen a green template for this blog?
The word "green" comes from the Old English word growan, which means "to grow." While green is associated with other meanings, the main idea is that of growth or new life.
New life!
When you discover the truth about Mormonism, you begin a new life.
Kermit the Frog said it best: "It isn't easy being green!"

So, my favorite color is blue, blue rhymes with true. The Book of Mormon cover is blue, the book is true. - I love your logic
Ok, I'll put using rhythms in my bag of tricks along with astrology, palm reading and tarot cards to find truth.
Tyson, It's so funny to me how you will dismiss any of my "logic" (which it really isn't) when it disagrees with you but then you will turn around and justify all sorts of superstitious beliefs using logic that is far more flawed than mine. Ever heard the phrase "the kettle calling the pot black"?
You believe that you can put a few drops of oil on someone's head, put your hands on their head, say a few words, and they will be healed just because someone else put their hands on your head and gave you the power to do it.
It doesn't work that way...
So don't lecture me about logic.
How long are you going to complain about how you used to be Mormon? Move on to other things.
Weston, how long are you going to lurk around here and whine about what I choose to do with my life? If you can debate my message, then bring it on. Whining and playing the persecution card just makes you look pathetic.
When you leave the LDS institution for the critical thinking impaired you have to begin again on so many levels. Coming to your blog Mormon411 helps me to be "green". Thank you!
Meg, thank you! And welcome!
I have to comment again for Tyson. Not surprisingly, your comment follows Mormon logic pretty clearly:
"The Book of Mormon is true because Joseph Smith saw god. I know Joseph Smith saw god because the Book of Mormon is true."
This post didn't share any type of logic such as "I like green therefore there is no god." It simply stated that green represents new life and leaving Mormonism is a new life, therefore my theme color is green.
Love YOUR logic...
You know, for as intelligent and educated as you are, your comments are truly jaw dropping.
Kind of reminds me of that Wingabouts lady who used to comment here. She was a Christian who claimed to have a degree in biology, yet she would make the most absurd and uneducated arguments I have ever heard.
Tyson, I truly think your problem is that you read the title of my blog posts and immediately form an opinion about it before you even read the content. And since your truth is THE truth, everyone else is automatically wrong and therefore their opinion does not deserve any more consideration than the time it took to type up a short illogical response, which is not really a response but more of a "I know you are, but what am I?"
I can blind fold myself and type away, and that would be more logical than your "I like green" logic. I may be the only person here that actually reads every word of your post and probably put more thought in my responses. And that's my point, I actually read it instead of drool over it like your "followers". I actually read every word and realize that your comments really make no sense. I'm sorry. It's not that I disagree. I just don't like eating pie filled with crap.
And don't come back with your, "well, you believe this . . . " you have consistently proven over and over again (even in this comment section) that you don't know a single thing about what I believe. But you have inspired me though. Truly, you have. I've felt this urge to start a blog about rocket science, a subject I know nothing about, and dedicate my blog to how wrong and absurd rocket scientists are. Thank you for paving the way
First, I never used the "I like green" logic. I stated that it is my favorite color but that had nothing to do with the content of the post. I have a very hard time believing that you carefully read every word because your comments talk about things that I never said or implied.
They make no sense to you because, again, you have the only truth and anything that opposes it is "wrong".
What didn't make sense about the very simple point that green represents new life and since I have a new life, green is my template color? That is an amazingly simple concept that any bonehead can understand. In what way does that not make sense to you?
I don't know a single thing about what you believe? I was only a Mormon for 30+ years. I think that just slightly qualifies me to blog about it. Are you denying that you believe in miraculous healings by the laying on of hands?
Ironically, I know FAR more about your church than you ever will. I am not writing a blog about something I have zero experience with. Your "rocket science" argument does not help your case at all because I am not just a person who heard about Mormonism and decided to start a hate-blog. It was my life! It was everything I knew. The fact that you so easily dismiss this gives me zero reason to respect any of your opinions.
The reason my comments don't make sense to you is because Mormonism and common sense don't mix.
Haha - you said any "bonehead" can understand and then follow that asking why I don't understand. Hmmm - let me think - OH, probably because I'm NOT a bonehead - probably because I don't salivate over every ant-Mormon rant. I think you're confusing my lack of brainless laudation with narrow mindedness. You think I disagree because it doesn't fit with my "truth" and you ridicule when others don't see things the way you do. It is what it is I guess
First of all, I never mentioned my "experience" with rocket science - all I said was of my knowledge of it. And that my friend is what you are lacking in. You did a post on Mormon prophesies and you admitted several times that you had no understanding of some prophesies, along with being inaccurate the majority of the others. How can this be since you have had sooooooo many years of experience? I'm sorry, but your 30+ years claim is amusing and a little sad. I do not deny the power of God and the power of healing. But your description and understanding of it is inaccurate. But who am I to disagree with someone so "qualified" - haha, sorry
You really are a little sissy, get over yourself whimpy-boy.
Oooo, I was in a bad mood that day. Sorry about that. You're a good guy.
No, you're not a bonehead. Far from it, which is why I'm all the more surprised.
If you don't want to believe that I was in the church for 30+ years, then you don't have to but I have no reason to lie about it. And just because I don't know every little thing about every little thing, doesn't disqualify what I DO know. If someone had to know everything about a certain subject before they were an "expert", then no one would be an expert on anything.
I like your blog and your attitude towards things. You clearly have bigger nads than most of these wimpy little butt-hurt ex-Mormon cry-babies that create "Why I hate Mormonism" blogs. I enjoy still being able to comment on someone's blog, so if I say something wrong just let me know, rather than banish me. I'll try to clean-up my attitude as best I can.
@mormon. no matter what you say to this guy, he will counter your argument, nothin you say will get through his "thick skull". It's actually pretty foolish to believe so deeply in another man's fable if you ask me. But today if i said god told me to kill my baby then another voice came to me and told me to stop. Do you know where i would be right now? Id be diagnosed with schizophrenia and thrown into a mental asylum hooked on drugs, but no Christian would believe me. Theyd be the first people cursing my name and saying i deserve hell. Understand what i'm sayin? But theyre in their right mind to believe some book that has been around for thousands of years. The bible has been edited so many times with so many things getting thrown out and some things being added. So the whole religion is basically based on some man-made beliefs and morals, not god's. It truly amazes me
Weston, I rarely censor. And I won't banish you. Promise. I can take criticism; in fact, I welcome it. The problem is that no one, thus far, has even been able to bring me any. I don't hate Mormons but I do hate what Mormonism does to people. I hate how it chokes their minds with such superior and elitist thinking.
Ikhouvanje, Yes you are right. Some people are so hopelessly dependant on the system that they will defend it at all costs. There is nothing you can say that will change their minds. It is unfortunate, but that's how it is. I don't blog for those people. I blog for those who are feeling supressed or are having doubts. I let people like this comment here so that other people can see how their dogma has entirely taken over all sense of their reason and logic. They don't realizing it, but they are helping me. Oops, now they know!
They believe in God to give them "strength", they lose self power, and dont see the potential in themselves, that they can be so much more, but instead, they put everything in God. Theyre all a bunch of hypocrites, double standard kind of people. Since "God" gave us a brain to think on our own, to explore, to imagine, to create, and be curious, then what kind of sense would that make to send us to hell for using the mind and brain that he created...ehh sorry for my essays its prob annoying
It's not annoying at all. I've asked those very same questions myself.
The best way to become a atheist is to read the bible and Book of Mormon and fully understand them
