I am pleased to announce that today, after procrastinating it for far too long, I mailed my official resignation letter to the LDS church.
To all of my readers who have not yet resigned, why not do it now?

This website gives a brief but informative overview of the resignation process and what you can expect.
I will be blogging every step of this process, you can be sure.

Congratulations!!!
Oh My Lord!!!! So thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember the day I got mine. I thought I was going to be sad, regretful, or have some other "let down" emotion. I read my letter and thought...."huh"
I filed it away and rarely think about it.
Good for you!=)
Thanks guys. Now that I've sent in my letter (receipt confirmed by certified mail), I am not looking forward to the visits and phone calls that are most likely coming.
Yea, Heather, it seems I have moved on of sorts. I've had no desire to blog now for several months. I'm just ready to have it over.
I'm expecting to receive mine in a month or two.
I hope you continue to blog at least occationally. You have been a huge help for me and will be for others... So THANK YOU!
I doubt you'll get much love bombing. But if you do it's just material for the blog:)
Thanks Heather,
I really appreciate hearing that I've made a difference. That's my whole purpose and it means a lot.
Oh you can bet your buttons I'll be blogging about everything they do or don't do!
And yes, I'll try to put up something at least once a month. I have a friend with a pretty good story and I'm trying to get him to write it down and send it to me.
Congrats
And good job on the blog it cracks a smile every time i read a brand knew one :)

I have been following your blog for a while. I am fourteen and recently became atheist 5 weeks ago. I was a mormon and am still active. I want to leave but I can't tell my parents. They're super orthodox and make up these crazy theories in support of the church but reject sound ones against it. For example, my dad was saying yesterday that the reason they haven't found BOM evidence is because stuff decays and breaks down. I wanted so bad to tell him how scientifically wrong and delusional he was, but I didn't. Sorry for the tangent, but last week in Sunday school our teacher asked why we have good feeling for doing something right. I told him is was a release of dopamine because the only way early man could survive was in groups. He ignorantly like many leaders said it could also be the spirit. WTF! I would like to send you my deconversion story later, but I just wanted to share this link on cults. Everything in it I immedialty saw in Mormonism. I can't believe I ever believed this stuff. Anyway here's the link

Sorry about the typo at the top, I copied at date with my reply
Jed,
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it!
Mark,
One of the things I have discovered is that people will believe and defend their "truth" no matter what evidence is presented to them. You are certainly a bright young man! At age 14 I was head-over-heels for the church with no inkling of doubt. It might be difficult for you to "come out" as an un-believer. It was hard for me. That is when you will find out who your true friends really are. Just remember that you can't live your life to please everyone else, especially pretending to believe their myths and fairy tales.
I would be very interested in reading your story and would even love to publish it here, with your permission, of course.
Yes, it's amazing how the church fits the description of a cult. It's almost as if the term was defined from Mormonism!
Good luck and please let me know how things go for you.
