I've taken the same cartoon and given it three different captions. Which is your favorite? Can you think of any others?








Religion Produces Intellectually Bankrupt People

I have no problem with people believing whatever they want to believe as long as their beliefs do not include physical harm to myself or other people.

However, I am opposed to religion because it intellectually bankrupts peoples minds. Belief in a supernatural being is so wrong because there is no evidence AT ALL to support such a belief. They will argue that it is all based on faith and that is exactly my point...

If someone was trying to rip you off, would they provide proof of their claim or would they tell you to just trust them?

Whoever invented god was the biggest scam artist of all time. Only a man-made belief would require you to take it on blind faith.

And let's assume that it is all true, God, Jesus, etc. Even if it was faith based, there would be evidence as a natural consequence of it being true. But there is no evidence.

My last post about true/false initiated a conversation between my wife and I (with me doing all the talking and her sitting on the couch with her arms folded accusing me of attacking her). I won't go into all the details, but I have come away from that one-sided conversation thoroughly convinced that my wife is intellectually bankrupt, thanks to that disease known as religion.

It is such a fucking bullshit fairytale and yet has people willing to bet their lives that it is true. They will be the first to admit that there is no evidence. But the whole idea is that god blesses you based on your blind obedience.

So if I understand correctly, I'm supposed to take a wild shot in the dark and hope that I picked the right belief system.

Or a better example. I give you a bucket full of candies. They are all poisoned except one. You have to pick one and eat it based upon faith that you picked the ONE that is not poisoned. If you pick the wrong one, then you're dead. If you won't pick one at all, then I'll just shoot you in the head.

Religion is just a gamble. And their argument for it's truth is simply because they believe it. But when I point out that I believe the sky is purple... that doesn't automatically make it purple. They just look at you with that glazed over, "huh?" type of look. Your example went so far over their head that it could have hit Kolob.

Why waste your entire life on a gamble? You have nothing but faith to backup your outrageous religious claims. None of them are realistic. None of them have any scientific backing. And yet, smart, intelligent, educated people still believe in the bullshit as if it was cold, hard fact.

For the fucking life of me I can't understand why!

And when I tried to explain to my wife that all I want to know is the why, she folds her arms and mumbles something about, "I can't believe this is happening to me..." and sits there about ready to cry.

Then I tell her that, as a non-believer, my mind is totally open to being proven wrong. If you can show me where I am wrong, then I not only want you to, but I openly welcome it!

Nothing. She sits there, arms folded, still muttering to herself.

If you have all the truth, then this is your big chance to blow me out of the water!

True or False: The LDS Church Is True

If any of you are or have been a student, then you have probably learned some test taking strategies. For example, if you have a true/false question, in order for the statement to be true, all of it has to be true. If there is even one part in the question that is false, then the entire statement is false.

Example,

True or False: X, Y, Z.

If X is false and Y and Z are true, then XYZ is false.

If Y is false and X and Z are true, then XYZ is false.

If Z is false and X and Y are true, then XYZ is false.

The only way that XYZ can be true is if X, Y, and Z are all true on their own.

Now imagine a very complex true/false question. Imagine:

True or False: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z.

In order for that statement to be true, each and every one of its constituents must be true. If even one is false, then the statement is false.

To say, "The LDS church is true", therefore, is to say that every part of it is true.

True or False: The LDS church is true.

The LDS church includes (to name a few):

Tithing, temples, WoW, FHE, interviews, recommends, service, prophets, apostles, teachers, history, stories, heavenly visitations, revelation, callings, priesthood, garments, covenants, signs, tokens, scriptures, Christianity, etc.

If any one of these things is not true, then the answer to the question is FALSE.

No middle ground. That means it is either 100% true or 100% false. If it is 99% true, then it is false.

I Keep Having to Question this "Merciful" God

In all my years as a believer, I was never aware of a story that is told in the fifth chapter of Acts, verses 1 - 10.

Acts 5: 1-10

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

What the hell?

In this story, the couple sold a possession and wanted to keep some of the money from the sale rather than turn it all over to the Apostles (they probably had bills to pay). Why they were obligated to hand over all their money is not described. So what does Peter do? He curses the guy and god makes him drop dead. A few hours later, Peter does the same thing to the wife.

God really wants your fucking money! Pay or die, mutherfuker! What is god, some loanshark? Some crimelord who will do you in if you owe him money?

I thought god was merciful. If you sin and make a mistake, you are supposed to be allowed to repend and right the wrong. Your punishment is only carried out after you die and didn't ever repent.

So what the hell is this? If you keep some of the money that is yours anyway, god will kill you dead right there on the spot?

I thought that the god of the New Testament was a loving, forgiving god. The god of the Old Testament could strike you dead for picking your nose crooked. It looks like the reformed god of the NT sometimes forgets and does a merciless slaughter now and then.

People, you worship a sick, demented being. What do we do with world leaders who mercilessly slaughter people? We remove them from power! Why do you continue to worship and fear this god who kills people whenever he gets mad? If I am supposed to emulate the example of god into my own life, I guess I'll kill my children the next time they lie to me.

Holy shit!! And atheists are supposed to be the barbarians...

LDS Missionaries Being A Little TOO Bold

When I was on my mission, we were encouraged to stand boldly for the truth. If you offended someone, it was okay because we were simply telling people the way it was. Jesus wasn't afraid to offend people...

This story was relayed to me by my good friend. This actually happened to them just a few days ago.

While my friend was at work, the LDS missionaries stopped by his house and spoke with his wife. They told her that they were bad parents and that they didn't really love their daughter because they weren't raising her Mormon. And because they refused to bring her up in the LDS religion, they were damning their own daughter to hell.

My friend used to be Mormon because he was forced into it when he was living with his grandfather years ago. My friends wife has never been Mormon. So, because he is technically a member on their records, they follow him, like they usually do.

But can you imagine the audacity! It is one thing to believe that your religion is true and to try to share it with other people. But to downright tell someone that they are damning their children to hell for not raising them LDS, that's just plain rude and offensive.

I might have been an LDS missionary at one point in my life, but I would have NEVER said something like that to anyone. To say that they were offended is a huge understatement.

I can vouch personally for my friend and his wife that they are wonderful parents and they love their daughter very much. In fact, they are probably better parents than I am. When I got home from my mission, my friends daughter (the one who is hell bound) was only a few months old. Now she is a teenager and is beautiful, smart, and talented.

I don't know if this is just an isolated incidence. Perhaps the guy who said those things was just an extremist. Maybe the church has instructed its missionaries to be as bold as they need to be to get more converts. I know that my friend and his wife will NEVER welcome the missionaries into their home again. If this is a new tactic being used by the church to coerce people into joining, IT WON'T WORK!

Everyone, please remember that the LDS missionaries, for the most part, are naive about their own history and religion. They do what they do because they sincerely believe it to be true. So when you turn them away, do it politely if possible. If they knock on your door on a hot day, offer them a drink of cold water. We can all be civil to each other BUT if they start their manipulation tricks, you do not have to take it. You can end the discussion and ask them to leave.

I can't help but notice that if they are that manipulative to non-members, just think how much worse it is for active members. If you are a member, you NEVER say "no" to the church. NEVER. If you do, you are rejecting Jesus and you need to repent.

This incidence makes me embarrassed to admit that I was once an LDS missionary.

Did Joseph Smith Produce the Book of Mormon in a Matter of Months?

I've been thinking a lot lately about the production of the Book of Mormon and how it could have possibly come into existance in such a short time. Mormons claim that Smith produced it in only a matter of months, and, if that is true, is quite an amazing feat seeing as how long and detailed it is.

Could there be an alternative explanation? Hear me out.

Smith claimed that on September 21, 1823, Moroni appeared to him to tell him about the location of the buried golden plates, which contained the text of the Book of Mormon. The next morning, Smith went to the place and found the plates but was unable to take them. In fact, for the next four years, Smith met Moroni at the site and received instruction. After that time, Smith was finally granted guardianship of the plates on September 22, 1827. The Book of Mormon was published in 1830.

From 1827 to 1830... that is not a matter of months; it is three years that Smith was in possession of the gold plates. And not only that, but he was first made aware of their existance in 1823. From 1823 to 1830... that is seven (7) years.

If Joseph Smith did produce the Book of Mormon himself, there was more than enough time to write an elaborate story and do lots of research at the local library, which historians have shown that he had access to.

I have used the Joseph Smith History in the Pearl of Great Price as my source for all the dates. This means that, according to Smith himself, that he at very least, had the Book of Mormon concept for seven years before it was published. That is more than enough time to write a 531 page novel.

Smith claims, in his own words, that in order to make money, he had to travel a lot (JSH vs. 55). Who is to say that he didn't frequent all the libraries he could while away? In his head, he was formulating the story, long before he ever wrote it down.

This explains why his mother claimed that he could sit with the family and describe, in great detail, the people and customs of the Book of Mormon people. He would tell these stories BEFORE he came in possession of the plates. How could that possibly be true unless he was making up the story himself?

The evidence is right there that Smith had more than plenty of time to come up with the Book of Mormon story. He had 7 years and maybe even longer. Mormons claim, without even looking at the dates, that he only had a few number of months in which to complete the translation. But the evidence is right there, in their own scriptures, that he had at least 7 years.

Opposition and Truth

Many, many Mormons hold the belief that because there are those who oppose the church, that it is a testament to it's truth. Satan fights against it with all his strength because he hates truth. Therefore anyone who is Satan's agent, is also full of hate. Thus, if I come along and state that the church is not true, I am working for Satan.

Satan only opposes Mormonism because all the other churches are false and are keeping good people away from the real truth by teaching them false doctrines in a false church, mingled with some truth.

Does opposition to something make that something true? Let's think about it with our rational brains.

  • Mormons oppose anti-Mormons. That must make anti-Mormonism true.
  • The United States opposes terrorism. That must make terrorism true.
  • People oppose illness and disease. That must make illness and disease true.
  • Plenty of people oppose the Catholic church. That must make the Catholic church true.
In short, anything with opposition must be true. But, as I hope you can see from the above examples, that is not the case.

Opposition is a good thing. Without it, the United States would have never come into existance. The colonists opposed the heavy taxes placed on them by King George. This lead to a violent confrontation which eventually ended in the birth of America.

Has there ever been a bill or law proposed that you are opposed to? Does opposition to that bill automatically make it true?

I hope that anyone using the claim that opposition means your cause is true will stop and take a second think about it. Your very own Mormon scriptures say that there must be opposition in all things:

2 Nephi 2:11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.

Opposition is a good thing. What if I got a gun and went out on a shooting spree? What if no one opposed me? That would be a bad thing. We want opposition.

So, in the mind of a Mormon, the opposition factor is a huge testimony builder. However, in the real world, nearly everything has some sort of opposition. Does it mean that everything with opposition is true? Of course not, and it is no different for Mormonism.

The claim of Mormon defenders that the church is true because people like me oppose it is absurd. All you have to do is think it through for half a second. If opposition equals truth, then everything that the Mormons oppose is true too.

I'm not trying to say that anyone is stupid. All I am saying is that they need to rethink their claim that the church is true BECAUSE it has opposition.

The Insignificant Mormon Church

In writing my last post about Greg and SPAM and all that nonsense, it really got me thinking about how insignificant Mormonism really is.

It has taken 180 years for the LDS church to gain 14 million members, of which only 4 million are active.

The Humane Society has taken roughly 50 years to gain 10 million members.

If the speed of growth is an indication of truth, then the Humane Society is more true than the LDS church.

If there really are 14 million current Mormons, then the percentage of the earth's population that is Mormon is 0.00002%. (There are 7 billion people on the planet)

You've got a damn long way to go before you "fill the entire world".

Everyone inside the Mormon bubble is so proud that they have all the truth. But well over 99% of the earths population have never even heard of Joseph Smith.

Since the light bulb was invented in 1879, it has spread across the world and has influenced nearly every living person. Thomas Edison has had far more of an impact on the world than Joseph Smith could ever dream of. It has only been 131 years since the light bulb was invented.

Mormonism is insignificant. They take themselves so seriously but the rest of the world just laughs at them. They are a relatively small group of very arrogant people with a persecution complex.

Over 99% of the worlds population couldn't give a shit less about the church at all.

But even though they are small and insignificant, their lies must be exposed.

Farewell SPAMLDS

Greg West, the expert on anti-Mormonism, is retiring.

He wrote a lengthy final post outlining the last two years of SPAM. It is full of his same old stuff.

"I have debunked every anti-Mormon claim I have ever come across."

Even in his last post, he pours on the arrogance nice and thick. He has seen it all. He knows it all.

Defend your myth! Protect your con-artist. You can have a testimony of Joseph Smith all day but it doesn't change what he really was...

If SPAM has proven anything, it is that the Mormon testimony is always the fallback. It is that Mormons know it all. It is that the propaganda about church critics is plain untrue.

The truth must be defended. One ounce of pro-Mormon evidence equals 900 tons of anti-Mormon evidence. As long as some answer exists, it is good enough.

Greg, I'm sure you'll be back. I'm sure you'll be cockier than ever. But until then, farewell. You've given me a lot to bitch about.

If you have answered every anti-Mormon claim, how do you explain the lack of inspiration from your precious prophet regarding natural disasters, especially the two most recent earthquakes that have killed thousands of people?

Have fun explaining that one!

I'm sure he won't respond to it just for me, but if he did, he would say something like:

"That's not what prophets are all about. They warn people of spiritual dangers, not natural disasters. Besides, you're an anti-Mormon, therefore you are full of hate and bitterness. Therefore I won't waste my time talking to you because all you want is a sign and the scriptures say that asking for signs is wrong. And since you're asking for a sign, you are wrong."

Explain it away all day, but it doesn't change the FACT that no LDS leader has ever correctly predicted a natural disaster.

In your TBM mind, SPAM has emerged victorious over all the spawns of hell. To your little band of 400 censored members you are a hero. But who's going to remember you in 100 years?

Nobody.

To sum up Greg's undying arrogance, here is the final paragraph of his final post:

"Anti-Mormonism tacitly testifies, by its determined opposition, that we possess those keys and that authority, and that we are exactly what they say we are. If it were not so, they would not oppose us with such fervor. You can take that to the bank. The Church is true. It is directed by Jesus Christ through apostles and prophets. Joseph Smith was a prophet. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today. The Book of Mormon and the revelations are true. I bear witness of these things with all my heart in the name of Jesus Christ. Let me sum it up:

Because they oppose us, that means we really are true!

This is not "a" church; this is THE church. Everyone else is a cheap imitation.

Greg may have learned a lot of things in his little "exposing anti-Mormonism" pilgrimage, but humility is certainly not one of them.

The "Merciful" Christian God

In response to an article about the earthquake in Chile, one commenter said:

"God of mercy have mercy on your people."

Why do you need to ask/tell your merciful god to have mercy?

According to normal Christian belief, natural disasters are gods way of punishing us in bulk for our evil sins. You believe in a god who kills as many people as he can whenever he doesn't get his way.

This god does not deserve any worship or respect.

Believers, wake up and smell the pizza. Your "merciful" god is slaughtering people by the hundreds. Your Mormon prophets are doing nothing to protect you from it. Can't you see the huge religious fallacy here?

This god is only merciful when you are groveling at his feet and kissing his ass. No, wait a minute... he kills believers too.

You all worship a sick being who is seriously attention deprived.

Thomas S. Monson, the false LDS prophet, is getting really good at NOT predicting anything!

Prophets are supposed to be able to see the future and warn of danger.

Monson, the LDS people are paying you a lot of money to be their guardian. You can start anytime.

TBM Blogger Admits There Are Questionable Moments In Church History

The author of allaboutmormons.com has written an article for those who have lost faith and are inactive. He talks about reasons why people lose their testimonies and then makes an effort to convince his reader that they should come back.

According to this article, one of the reasons people lose their faith is because they ""discover" aspects of Mormon history that shake their faith, especially when that history is presented through a tainted anti-Mormon lens." Why did this author put the word "discover" in quotation marks? It sounds like he's implying that it's common knowledge about these questionable moments in LDS history.

He then states that there are two sides to every story and refers his readers to the clowns at FAMRS and FAIR. Not a good idea. I've read stories about people who have gone there for help and end up having their testimonies torn to shreds. LOL

So, if there are questionable moments in church history, why does the church ignore them and keep the common member in the dark about them. Only when you "discover" these things on your own, does the church then recommend their unofficial apologetics department.

Doesn't that seem like an extremely dishonest tactic? The church is basically admitting that there are problems but are trying to do everything they can to keep their members from hearing about them. If/when they do hear about them, they refer you to FARMS and FAIR.

Dishonest, unethical, shameful, and disgusting!

Ok, now the other thing about this quote that I need to elaborate on is the comment about "tainted anti-Mormon lens". I'm sorry, Mr. Author, but there is no other place to learn about these things. The LDS church is actively engaged in hiding and suppressing these stories, so the only ones being HONEST about the past are the "anti-Mormons".

Is there any other version of these stories besides anti-Mormon? No, because the church would rather sit on the truth than just come clean about it. So, of course you're going to only hear about these things from an anti-Mormon. The LDS church is busy covering up their questionable history. They would do anything to make sure that the world never found out about them.

If they were to do the right thing, and come clean about their past, some faithful members would leave. But at least they would have finally had the balls and the integrity to do the right thing. Seeing the LDS churches history of 180 years of lying and deceit, I can see no reason why they would suddenly change now and start telling the truth.
