Operation: Street Preachers

Nobody likes it when extreme religionists preach their condescending doctrine on street corners. It's about time that someone stood up to them and gave them a taste of their own medicine...

Great stuff. I always have your blog open on one of my iPod Touch's tabs. Stuff like this is why it's worth it.

I wish I had the balls to link it to my Mormon friends, though.

IonicPaul,

Glad to hear you like the blog. There have been many times where I have wanted to email the link to this blog to my family as well. There's a few reasons why I don't.

The main reason is because I respect everyone's right to believe whatever they want. If someone wants to know the truth badly enough, they will find it on their own.

Second, is reputation. It's not that I'm afraid to share my beliefs with family, but I live in the middle of Mormonland and I've seen enough ex-Mormon lives get destroyed, because of intolerant Mormons, that I just keep my mouth shut.

Who in Utah wants to hear what an ex-Mormon atheist has to say?

Feel free to comment as often as you'd like.

I get you there. I mean I live in a decently liberal part of LA (if not in having secular beliefs, then at least in respecting them) and I'm very hesitant of expressing how much I feel religion of any kind does wrong. I can only imagine what it'd be like in Mormonland (Utah, right?).

It's almost don't ask, don't tell. If you ask I'll tell, but I'm much more comfortable not taking flak for my beliefs (or lack thereof).

That's my policy exactly. I don't say anything until someone asks. Then I just tell them the reasons I don't believe and challenge them to prove me wrong.

Yes, Utah. Right in the middle of Salt Lake City. Temple Square is walking distance from my home.

I believe in free speech. Rather than wanting to shut people like this down, I just ignore them.
